Do You Accept Medical Insurance?
We participate with Medicare, Medicaid
(Georgia and South Carolina) as well as numerous
health insurance and managed care plans. If you
are covered by any of these programs, you will usually
be responsible for the deductible and/or co-pay
amounts specified by each plan. Please bring
your insurance cards with you on each visit. Failure
to provide proof of insurance may result in you
being responsible for full payment of your bill.
Some insurance companies may require
that the patient get approval from a primary care
physician before visiting our office or having surgery.
Other plans in which we do not participate require
"out of plan" physician referrals. Please inform
our office about special programs in your insurance
policy. Failure to comply with these requirements
could reduce the amount the insurance company will
pay for the procedure and increase your financial
responsibility. If you do not know, call your insurance
agent or see the benefits manager for your company.
Your insurance policy is a contract
between you and your insurance company. You pay
monthly premiums to the insurance company in return
for medical coverage. Should your insurer determine
that you are responsible for the cost of your care,
you are responsible for payment of the bill. The
Retina Eye Center can not accept responsibility
for negotiating a settlement on a disputed claim.
