How Long Will May Examination
Take?
Your
initial examination and testing will be comprehensive.
Since we try to complete all tests and make recommendations
based upon them at the time of your examination, please
allow at least two (2) hours for your visit. You will
still require dilation of the pupils for subsequent
examinations. Dilation times can vary from 30 to 50
minutes, depending on your iris color (brown eyes
take longer to dilate). Therefore, expect waits of
up to 60 to 90 minutes for follow-up visits.
Both
of your pupils will need to be dilated in order to
perform your retinal eye examination. Pupillary dilation
will make you sensitive to bright light when you leave
our office. For your safety, it is best to plan for
someone to drive you from our office and to bring
a good pair of sunglasses. The pupillary dilation
will also prevent you from being able to focus; reading
may also be difficult for several hours following
your examination. You may wish to take this into consideration
in your work schedule. These inconveniences are temporary
but necessary for an adequate examination.
Our
office staff will ask you many questions which will
enable our physicians to perform a thorough evaluation.
You can help us by bring all prescription medications
or a list of each medication and dosage with you to
the office.
Be
assured that everything will be done to complete your
examination as promptly and efficiently as possible.
We will devote as much time as necessary to help you
with your individual problem.
