Dr.
Dhaliwal is an ophthalmology specialist (Eye MD) with extensive
experience in the evaluation and treatment of retinal diseases.
He has been in medical practice since 1985. Dr. Dhaliwal
was on clinical faculty at the University of Toronto Department
of Ophthalmology before relocating to Augusta, GA in 1994.
Dr. Dhaliwal is on the clinical faculty of the Queen's University
Department of Ophthalmology and is a Clinical Assistant
Professor at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Dhaliwal
has been recognized by the "Best
Doctors" review of eye surgeons for the southeastern
states.
His
interests and dedication to the field of vitreoretinal diseases
of the eye have resulted in many published articles in prestigious
ophthalmic medical journals. Dr. Dhaliwal has authored several
book chapters (two of which are in the internationally recognized
standard three volume text, "Retina"). He belongs
to and presents regularly at national fluorescein angiography
clubs and has been actively involved in clinical trials
here in Augusta.
Dr.
Dhaliwal is a native of Vancouver, BC and he received his
medical degree at the University of British Columbia in
1983. After a mixed surgical and medical internship, he
undertook residency training in Internal Medicine. Following
this he practiced in northern Canada before returning to
complete his Ophthalmic surgical training at Queen's University
(at Kingston, Ontario). He then completed two additional
years of subspecialty training in medical retinal diseases
at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute of the Johns Hopkins
University Hospital (Baltimore, MD) and in surgical vitreoretinal
diseases at Barnes Hospital of the Washington University
School of Medicine (St. Louis, MO). During this time he
co-authored articles on indocyanine green angiography and
subfoveal retinal surgery that are standard references.
